Position Description
Reporting to the General Manager, you will work closely with the management team, staff, and Board of Directors to meet the corporate communications and membership engagement needs of the organization. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious candidate to gain practical experience in executing on a fully integrated communications plan.
Background
Ashburn Golf Club has been an integral part of the Halifax golfing landscape since Governor General Lord Byng hit a ceremonial ball from the first tee of the Old Course in 1923. Now with two challenging 18-hole golf courses and comprehensive practice facility, Ashburn takes its place among the leading private golf clubs in Canada. Ashburn is currently home to Web.com’s Nova Scotia Open and the RBC Canada Cup.
Duties and Responsibilities
Create and implement marketing and communication strategies for Ashburn Golf Club in collaboration with the General Manager.
Plan and execute marketing and communication activities to drive membership and the special event business.
Maintain membership database and assist with related membership engagement tasks.
Research, create, design, and deliver an integrated array of branded communication materials. Such materials include, but are not limited to, the following: weekly e-newsletters, communiques from the Board, print newsletters, web content, brochure and poster copy, manuals/handbooks for employees and members, marketing material for prospective members and corporate clients, advertising, and media releases.
Manage all social media and email communication to membership.
Update the website and online archive on a daily basis, with an emphasis on the active playing season (April to November).
Co-ordinate graphic design, photography, and video requirements for club activities, and develop an archiving system for these materials.
Work collaboratively with section staff from all departments and volunteers from the club membership.
Requirements
Degree in marketing, communications, journalism, public affairs, or related field
Minimum of two years’ experience in a communications-related field
Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop
Experience with web site back-end maintenance and social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
Basic photography and videography skills
Ability to work independently and with minimal direction
Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and deliver projects on time
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in or a demonstrated interest in membership-focused organizations and knowledge of the sport of golf.
Salary will be commensurate with experience.
