International Business Analyst and Logistics Consultant – Toronto – GOwen Environmental Limited

We are seeking a talented, highly motivated and energetic individual to join our team to lead the creation and development of the overall market development, operational plans and strategic partnership with internal and external parties at all needed levels for the successful expansion of our professional development programs and consulting service into three Chinese municipalities with the potential to expand across China.

Job Responsibilities:
Support GOwen’s key decision making by translating data into insightful information and integrating customized business, academic, technology and regulatory conditions of China into current business model.
Act as signing authority and agent for GOwen Environmental with regards to all contacts and programs to be established within China.
Coordinate Supply Chain activities, including demonstration sites selection in each of the three municipalities, technology and equipment suppliers management, indoor and outdoor facilities procurement and order management, as well as logistics planning for the smooth transport and storage of heavy equipment and technology tools from Canada and across Asia to the three identified municipalities.
Establish Supply Chains pathways and negotiate contracts and sponsorship agreements with various suppliers for designated technologies as well as programs.
Establish a solid presence in China to represent GOwen as country liaison to facilitate relationships with all potential partnered private and public organizations impacted or involved with soil, water or sediment contamination.
Represent GOwen Environmental at on-site meetings and contract discussions and liaise with all involved parties in Canada and China.
Work with GOwen’s existing Chinese partners and contracted professional development programs coordinator relocated in Hong Kong to establish an office in Xian, Xiamen or Chengdu.
Provide value added discussions in China for what GOwen and the Canadian academic, public and private instructors, software demonstrators and technology suppliers can combine to provide to Chinese clients, regulators and academics.
Establish relationships with the academic institutions in the three identified municipalities to integrate Chinese lectures and local technology, so partnerships can be established between academic institutions in Canada and China as well as corporations within both countries.
Conduct analysis of professional development needs which relate to Chengdu, Xi’an and Xiamen by acquiring data through local industry, technical and research organizations and translate data into valuable information and trend which will enable GOwen to develop customized professional development programs, consulting services and marketing plan for the identified municipalities.
Identify the key competitors in the three identified municipalities and conduct research in terms of their size, pricing strategy, services, marketing channels, etc. to help GOwen differentiate its service and strategy.
Work with academic institutions and private industry in China to conduct initial selection of local instructors and local technology suppliers in the identified environmental fields and work with GOwen senior teams to select 5 leading instructors and 8 leading companies to demonstrate their technologies, besides Canadian and international instructors and technology suppliers, for the development of professional programs in China.
Conduct research and work with local consultants, regulators, academics to provide GOwen with comprehensive information on the environmental technologies currently being used on sites in China for both characterization and remediation work, including the environmental decision support software, data management, groundwater modeling and risk assessment modeling tools which will be integrated into the various professional development programs.
Conduct research and work with local regulators in the three identified municipalities and with GOwen contractors to provide GOwen with most up to date information about local demand and regulatory compliance for equipment and technologies that will be demonstrated and to make sure the content of the professional development programs is aligned with it.
Monitor results, react quickly and effectively to emerging risks and overcome profit challenges by working with GOwen senior teams to modify the operation framework on an on-going basis.
Work with suppliers of environmental technologies relating to contaminated soil, water or sediment in Canada and China to ensure that all technologies are available and present for all professional development programs in the three identified municipalities scheduled to start in February, 2018.
Identify and work with translators to translate scientific and technical information into Mandarin and Mandarin technical information into English for the English speaking participants of the professional development programs.
Work with local companies in China to identify and develop the key personnel for the one representative office in one of the three identified municipalities.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in a business discipline or Logistics & Supply Chain.
Master Degree in International Business required.
Familiarity with the organizational structure of Chinese Universities in Chengdu or Xi’an or Xiamen and at Canadian Universities, in order to efficiently identify appropriate contacts for discussions and develop partnerships.
Fluency in Written Chinese and Spoken Mandarin is an asset.
Knowledge of the technologies used in Contaminated Site Management and the logistics and supply of these technologies into and within China.
Knowledge of Contaminated Site Management Programs and various professional development initiatives worldwide.
Recent work experience in both Canada and China within the last five years in the field of logistics and supply chain, supplier management, data analysis, new market development and the environmental sector.
References from all previous work experience within the last five years is mandatory.
Strong analytical capability to manage large data set and transfer them into valuable information and insights to support key decision making.
Advanced knowledge of logistics and supply chain processes and procedures in Canada and China with strong skills in logistics and supply chain optimization software, such as Lingo.
Advanced proficiency in Access, VBA, Excel, PowerPivot and Macros with familiarity in Programming and Modeling language, such as SQL for efficient database management.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word and Power Point).
Experience working with cross-functional organizations in the environmental and retail sectors at national or international levels.
Strong cross culture communication skills with high cultural intelligence developed through living and working in Canada and living and working in China for at least three years.
The ability and willingness to live in Xian or Chengdu, China for 1-4 months and Toronto, Canada and to travel up to 50%.
Strong understanding and familiarity with the following municipalities: Chengdu, Xian and Xiamen in regards business environment, local academic institutions and culture.
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

Salary: $34 per hour at 36 hours per week.

Time: Day/ Night due to time difference with Chinese Clients

This position is located in Toronto, Ontario Canada but will require significant amounts of time in Xian and Chengdu with occasional trips to Xiamen.
