Job Information – Instructor
Duties: As an integral part of the instructional team, you will be responsible for the development, delivery and evaluation of power engineering courses within a number of Engineering Technology programs. This is an incredible opportunity to help shape the minds of students and prepare them for work in the power engineering industry as you facilitate learning and evaluate their progress. You will ensure the successful planning, organizing and managing of instructional resources, shop equipment, power plants and lab facilities in a safe and effective manner. As a key team member, you will be expected to liaise with industry and other educational institutions, as well as participate in relevant advisory committees. It will be part of your role to coordinate, manage and control projects within the program. With responsibility for the course portfolio documents required for accreditation, you will take a lead role in instructional and program development/improvement plans. You will also perform other duties related to this exciting opportunity.
Qualifications: The successful candidate must possess an extensive knowledge of the subject and current teaching/learning methods, well developed oral and written communication skills, analytical and organizational abilities, as well as the ability to work effectively as a team member. Candidates must have strong commitments to student success strategies and initiatives. The required knowledge and skills would have been acquired through a 1st Class Standardized Power Engineering Certification with recent, relevant and progressive industry experience. A B.Ed. (Secondary/Post Secondary), eligibility for membership in an appropriate professional association and/or a Bachelor of Engineering degree or a Diploma of Engineering Technology are considered assets. Candidates with 2nd Class Standardized Power Engineering Certification may be considered.
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience in accordance with College of the North Atlantic Faculty Collective Agreement.
