We are looking for one or more self-motivated person(s) to work in the Gift Shop at the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21.
Both full and part time positions may be available from September to January. The successful candidate(s) must be available to work at least one weekend day per week. Preference will be given to candidates who have the potential to return seasonally.
Hours: 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with occasional early (8:30 a.m.) and late shifts (7:00 p.m.).
Compensation: $ 12.10/hour
Responsibilities:
Deliver excellent customer service to visitors.
Assist with the monitoring of inventory and restocking shelves.
Process Point of Sale (P.O.S.) cash, debit and credit card transactions and day-end cash-out procedures.
Assist with receiving, unpacking, and pricing of new merchandise.
Perform general cleaning tasks (dusting, vacuuming, etc.).
Additional responsibilities as requested by the Gift Shop Manager.
Qualifications:
Able to interact pleasantly with customers, staff and/or volunteers and effectively respond to inquiries.
Comfortable providing service during times of high customer volume.
Able to work independently and take initiative to ensure smooth operation of store.
Comfortable standing for prolonged periods, performing routine tasks and occasionally lifting boxes.
Must provide a criminal record and child abuse registry check as a condition of employment.
Bilingualism (English/French)
Assets:
Proficiency in another language
Proven sales experience
Experience working with a Point of Sale system
Knowledge of the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21
