Water Safety Day Camp Instructor – Canadian Red Cross – Prince Edward Island

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervision of children age 5-13 for weekday summer camps across Prince Edward Island.
Develop daily lesson plans in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Canadian Red Cross.
Maintain strong program records regarding the progress and attendance of the children.
Perform regular equipment checks and ensure appropriate equipment is available as needed.
Ensure customer service issues are handled appropriately and in a timely manner.
Ability to stay over night at camp locations across Prince Edward Island.
Support other Red Cross initiatives, as needed, to provide for a coordinated team effort to meeting the needs of the most vulnerable in the community.

OTHER KEY RESPONSIBILTIES:
Water Safety Instructors – Conduct and monitor all swim tests prior to participants engaging in aquatic activities. Water Safety Instructors should possess an Assisted Water Safety Instructor or Water Safety Instructor Certification, if not training can be provided.
Boating Instructors – Preform regular equipment checks and ensure appropriate equipment is available as needed.
O.A.C Instructors – Present programs modular format in a fun interactive way.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be 16 years of age or older
Standard First Aid & CPR certification is required
Experience working with children and youth is an asset
Previous experience in Boating and Water Safety
Able to do heavy lifting (60 lbs to 80 lbs)
Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
A valid driver’s license and satisfactory driver’s abstract is required
Must supply a satisfactory criminal record and vulnerable sector checks
