Anvil Centre is the showpiece civic facility located in the heart of the downtown New Westminster. Anvil Centre encompasses 84,000-square feet of interior space and includes: conference and meeting facilities, theatre, multi-purpose rooms, multi-purpose art studios, art gallery, the City’s Museum and Archives, and much more. We are in search of qualified and customer service focused individuals to perform security work at Anvil Centre. Reporting to the General Manager (or designate), incumbents will be focused on ensuring the general security of the Anvil Centre facility and outside surrounding areas, resulting in an enjoyable environment for guests and employees. Incumbents will also ensure the safe and orderly flow of pedestrian traffic in Anvil Centre and respond to guest inquiries in a friendly and professional manner. At times, incumbents may assist in emergency situations using observation and reporting methods and processes.
REQUIREMENTS:
Completion of Grade 12 and Basic Security Training certification (BST Level 1 and 2), plus a current Security License for the province of British Columbia and related work experience. Experience in a conference centre or hospitality environment will be considered an asset.
Professional demeanor and the ability to work collaboratively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that exemplary customer service is demonstrated at all times.
Demonstrated ability in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with guests, clients, staff and contracted service providers.
Fluency in the English language and effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.
Effective decision making skills.
Effective organizational skills.
Ability to maintain basic log books or documentation.
Ability to work in a safe manner and possess working knowledge of applicable health and safety regulations.
Ability to operate two-way radios.
Driver’s license for the province of British Columbia.
Ability to perform other job-related duties as required.
Physical ability for the work. Standing for long periods, walk distances including climbing stairs.
Standard First Aid certification (OFA level 1), OFA level 2 is considered an asset.
The ability to pass and maintain a criminal and police record search.
*Candidates must have the ability to work non-standard work hours as operationally required, which include days, evenings, weekends and statutory holidays. Hours of work are scheduled according to operational need and event requirements.
