Project and Research Coordinator – City of Langford

Reporting primarily to the Manager of Parks and Recreation (and sometimes to other senior staff), this position carries out a wide range of projects and research in support of both Parks and Recreation initiatives and other municipal departments. Examples of potential projects include the installation, maintenance or retrofit of trails, playgrounds, buildings, bridges, boardwalks, wharfs, floats and other related services and facilities. Examples of potential research and analysis include digital signage options, marihuana policy research, grant writing, public art, etc.

Ideal applicants will have the following:
Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration or related discipline;
Project Management Certification and/or three years of progressively responsible experience managing projects;
Ability to review and interpret reports, contracts, policies, regulations and legislation, as well as experience conducting research and providing analysis and advice on complex issues;
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish successful relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders; and
A high level of energy, initiative, adaptability and accountability.

Please note that previous experience in the parks and recreation field is not a prerequisite. Rather, the successful candidate will be a life-long learner and a generalist, with the right combination of education, experience, skillset and growth potential, who thrives on managing a variety of initiatives in a high-paced and dynamic environment. As such, lesser qualified applicants may be considered.

The salary range offered for this full time position is $35.60 to $38.90 per hour, plus an excellent benefits plan and a modified 35 hour work week schedule. For further information, please refer to the job description on the City’s website: www.langford.ca.
