(Temporary)
The Tsawwassen First Nation Lands Department is seeking a Planning Intern to assist with work projects on a temporary basis. The Planning Intern is an introductory level position that reports directly to the Planning and Development Manager and will assist with developing regulatory options, permit review, community consultation, and administrative tasks. The Planning Intern will have the opportunity to contribute to a range of planning project areas including rezonings, parkland planning, development permits, film permits, green building, business licenses, secondary suites, and other special projects.
Essential Functions:
Planning research
Analyzing TFN laws, regulations, and land use planning documents, and consider amendment options
Reviewing plans, drawings, surveys, and permit applications
Drafting regulatory options and amendments
Drafting reports to Executive Council
Assisting with community consultation, including minutes and facilitation
Assisting with records management, including digital records
Qualifications or Experience:
Enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution in a Canadian Institute of Planners recognized program or in a related discipline
Strong analytical skills and problem solving skills
Good organizational skills
Knowledge of land use planning
Experience working for a municipality and for a First Nation would be a strong asset
Valid Class 5 Drivers license is required; use of a reliable personal vehicle will be an asset
Experience with GIS will be an asset
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Student Member or eligible to be a Member of the Canadian Institute of Planners
