Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC), Canada’s leader in wetland conservation, is seeking a Head of Restoration Services to deliver a new program in Ontario.
The Head of Restoration Services is responsible for delivering a program that provides solutions on a contractual basis to companies and organizations that require wetland and upland expertise. Examples of projects might include wetland and upland restoration relating to storm water pond naturalization, aggregate pit rehabilitation, industrial site naturalization, wetland compensation, water management plans, wetland research etc. Your industry knowledge and contacts will facilitate your success in this business development role.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
Participating as part of the Ontario Leadership Team, responsible for all aspects of Restoration Services program delivery.
Updating a 3 year business plan, developing budgets and managing revenue and expense projections on an annual basis.
Project management from start to finish: client prospecting, contract negotiation, contract management and project delivery.
New business development including identification of new markets, client prospecting, trade show participation, cold-calls and related promotional activity.
Client stewardship.
Work closely with the DU Ontario conservation team to implement projects.
Requirements
A college or university degree with emphasis on business development or marketing is preferred. An environmental sciences, biology or engineering degree or work experience, along with business and/or marketing experience would be favourably viewed.
Some knowledge of wetland and upland restoration technique would be helpful.
Excellent networking and client stewardship skills are essential.
Strong writing skills are essential for proposal writing and contract management.
Experience with budgets and a financial projections is preferred.
Familiarity with the non-profit and/or environmental conservation sectors would be considered an asset.
Must have a passion for conservation, the environment and the outdoors.
Your minimum 5 years of experience and directly related knowledge make you the ideal candidate for this position.
