Your passion is ensuring compliance with environmental standards, policies and procedures. You have the technical expertise required to support the Manager, Environment in the sustainment of the environmental management system.
As the Environment Advisor, you help to implement best practices companywide in environment management by ensuring fleet-wide compliance of environmental legislation and engaging with BC Ferries operational groups, acting as a resource and fostering environmental awareness. You conduct environmental audits and risk assessments, recommending remedial actions and identify environmental issues, and provide advice on action plans. You represent BC Ferries interests with external stakeholders and respond to environmental concerns arising from internal and external interests.
You have working knowledge of environmental legislation, as well as spill response procedures. You conduct yourself professionally in all areas, able to represent BC Ferries and maintain confidentiality. You have excellent communication and presentation skills coupled with strong interpersonal skills. You are analytical and self-motivated, actively seeking opportunities to educate and achieve outstanding results.
You have a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences including Environmental Engineering or closely related discipline, and an Environmental Auditor Certificate is an asset. In addition, a minimum of three years relevant work experience is required, including experience with hazardous waste management and contaminated sites. Experience in public outreach is also an asset. You are proficient in all relevant MS Office Suite Programs and software such as SharePoint.
