Reporting to the Director of Development Services, the Development Planner processes development applications, prepares reports and documents, and provides planning advice to the public and other departments.
This is a temporary full time position for approximately six (6) months.
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline, a minimum of 4 years’ experience in urban/regional planning, and membership in or eligibility for membership in the Planning Institute of British Columbia. Applicants must have practical knowledge of the principles, practices, and objectives of urban and regional planning; proven research capabilities; and knowledge of legislative requirements associated with urban planning.
Applicants must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills; a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with staff, developers and the general public; and a practical, flexible and purpose-driven approach to problem-solving. Applicants must be proficient with MS Office.
Previous work experience in a municipal setting is preferred.
This is a temporary full time unionized position within the BCGEU. Salary for the position is set at Grid Level 10 $29.82-$33.13 per hour. Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week.
