Carrier Sekani Family Services (CSFS) is looking for a full time, term Speech and Language Pathologist to join the Best Beginnings Outreach Program, a new and innovative program intended to reach Aboriginal children ages 0-6 and their families with assessment, diagnosis and early intervention services in the areas outlying Vanderhoof and Burns Lake. The SLP is responsible for providing services including diagnostic audiology services, speech and language testing and evaluations, habilitative services, consultative services, maintaining ongoing records, and initiating and updating short and long term goals for each case.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
Master’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology
Certification or eligibility for certification by the Canadian Association of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologist (CASLPA
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
First Nations Culture and traditions (specifically Carrier and Sekani)
Experience with assessment, diagnosis and therapy of children 0-6 years
Experience dealing with special needs children and their families
Demonstrate administrative skills and self-motivation skills
Follow the Canon of Ethics as outlined by CASLPA
Ability to work independently and within a team setting
Computer skills using Microsoft Office suite (MS Word, Excel); able to prepare spreadsheets and operate word processing programs and Adobe Acrobat
Excellent oral and written communication skills to compose business correspondence
Copies of required certificates, diplomas or degrees, a class 5 driver’s licence and a criminal record check will be requested from the successful applicant.
