At True North Counselling our clinicians aim to reduce distress and improve the psychological well being of our clients. Our multidisciplinary team employs evidence-based treatments to encourage positive transformation in the lives of our clients and their loved ones. Our psychologists have the opportunity to be part of a team that works closely with general physicians, researchers, nurses, psychology assistants, and psychiatrists. We have numerous referral sources, and generous compensation. Numeration above industry standard. Individuals wishing to work part-time also invited to apply. Annual education stipend is available.
We are currently seeking qualified and experienced individuals to join our Halifax team. Our team works with clients with an array of presenting issues including (but not limited to) the following:
Posttraumatic Stress Disorder;
Anxiety and Depression;
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD);
Grief and Bereavement;
Parenting;
Behavioral Modification in Children;
Family Therapy;
Couple’s Therapy;
Work-related Stress;
Assessment
The clinic’s scope is broad, with multiple practitioners. Candidates need not be experienced in all these areas.
The successful candidate must be registered and in good standing with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiner’s in Psychology (NSBEP). Sense of humour an asset.
Education and Experience
The successful candidate will hold a Masters or PhD in Psychology (i.e., Clinical, Counselling, etc.) and will…
Demonstrate an ability to implement evidence-based treatment with clients
Demonstrate an ability to assess client’s needs, abilities or behaviors using psychometric testing and clinical interviewing
Previous work with children, families and/or couples considered an asset
Previous work with RCMP, Military and DVA clients an asset
