Full-time Permanent – 10 Month position (204 work days per year)
Under the administrative direction of the Superintendent of School Effectiveness, the Psychologist is responsible for the quality and delivery of the psychological services within the Board. The Psychologist will supervise all psycho-educational and psychological assessments and will serve as Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) Lead, providing expertise in applied behaviour analysis techniques. He/she will conduct research and program evaluation, provide leadership and professional training for staff, and perform other duties as required.
Essential Qualifications:
Current registration as a Psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario, without restrictions
Doctorate degree in Psychology from an accredited university, or demonstrated in active pursuit with commitment to complete
Excellent knowledge in the areas of learning disabilities, developmental disabilities, child and adolescent emotional development, behaviour disorders and behaviour based intervention
Strong working knowledge of the Personal Health Information Protection Act
Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Word, data base, spreadsheets software, email, Internet
Sound skills in providing consultation, assessment, diagnosis, intervention and counselling
Ability to communicate and relate with people tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
Excellent ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment
Ability to be sensitive to the needs of families of students with disabilities, and cultural differences
Strong communication skills, oral and written
Effective leadership skills
Ability to analyse data and prioritize
Excellent problem solving and decision making skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to analyse and synthesize information and test results
Strong critical thinker, and very detail oriented
Highly motivated self-starter and ability to work under minimal supervision
Valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle
Ability to provide regular attendance
Preferred Qualifications:
Recent experience working with an interdisciplinary team
Recent experience in providing consultation, assessment, diagnosis, interventions and counseling within a school setting
Training in applied behaviour analysis principles from a recognized institution.
Familiarity with special education issues.
Salary will commensurate with experience and qualifications, and will range from $54.78 (min) hourly to $60.70 (max), plus statutory holiday and vacation pay. An excellent fringe benefit package is also provided. The individual will work the school year calendar (194 days), as well as an additional 10 days per year (following / preceding the school year).
