Job Summary
The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for managing pharmacists including pharmacist clinical training, program development, and pharmacist clinical skills evaluation and to ensure adherence to all guidelines set forth by the applicable college of pharmacists for the operation of a pharmacy. The Pharmacy Manager will also aid in program development, program implementation, marketing, patient retention, and liaise with health care providers, external stakeholder relations, infusion clinic relations, logistics and clinical issues, patient and disease groups.
Specific Responsibilities
Providing monthly reporting on progress; pharmacist’s metrics including but not limited to the number of prescriptions dispensed and patients counseled
Develop and present pharmacist educational reviews
Develop pharmacist counseling protocols
Be involved with development and implementation of pharmacy marketing initiatives to patients, health care providers
Maintain and improve relations with current clinics; infusion and pain
Collaborate with the development of patient education tools
Liaise with patient support groups
General Responsibilities
Manage staff pharmacists, including performance reviews, disciplinary reviews
Manage all pharmacist responsibilities as set out by the applicable provincial College of Pharmacists, including but not limited to; prescription counseling, checking, patient reviews
Ensure pharmacy meets all requirements set forth for narcotic and controlled substances
Ensure pharmacist staffing is adequate to maximize pharmacy productivity
Manage pharmacist holidays and coverage within pharmacy
Provide coverage within pharmacy department for dispensing and counseling as needed
Competencies
Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree
A valid license with good standing with the applicable College of Pharmacists
At least seven years clinical pharmacy experience as well as minimum two years retail pharmacy experience
Clinical expertise in major therapeutic areas required by Specialty Prescription Services
Expert customer service and compassion for patients
Excellent management skils
Developing new pharmacy programs and initiatives for pharmacy
This position requires a significant degree of self-starting and independence
This position provides oversight for pharmacy patient program department
