Production Supervisor

Apple Valley Foods Inc is a food manufacturer located in Kentville, Nova Scotia with sales throughout North America.  We are currently seeking a Production Supervisor to work in a fast paced, progressive and growing environment. The ideal candidate will have excellent problem solving skills and be an effective communicator.  Able to lead a group of employees, ensuring that quality and food safety standards are met. Quick thinking to ensure that production is conducted in a cost effective manner.

Responsibilities:

Ensure that the production schedule is followed. Any downtime is minimized to maintain a cost effective product
Previous problem-solving, troubleshooting experience
Communicate effectively with all employees
Has a strong understanding of quality and food safety and ensures that all quality and food safety procedures are followed at all times. Follows up on corrective actions as required
Demonstrates an understanding of H&S procedures, ensuring they are followed and a safe work environment is maintained at all times
Training and developing employees

Qualification

Previous supervisor/management and/or a science/technical background is an asset
Experience dealing with automated process/packing equipment is an asset
Self-directed, organized, effective team leader. Able to motivate and make quick decisions
Working knowledge of Word, Excel and E-Mail is required
Available to work flexible hours
