Backgrounder:

EcoSpex is a NEW online procurement tool that provides the built industry with a single, trusted source for selecting and specifying green building products. EcoSpex CONNECTS architects, designers and procurement professionals to manufacturers and suppliers of green building products in over 100 MasterSpec® categories. Information on the environmental, health and sustainable attributes of building products is published into EcoSpex and independently VERIFIED by EcoSpex’s expert team.

EcoSpex has been a pioneer at the development of our Third-party verification process providing the industry with the transparency and assurance sought by procurement and industry professionals when specifying and purchasing green building products. Building and design professionals can TRUST claims and credentials as they search the easy-to-use online portal to compare and identify suppliers for their green building projects. EcoSpex is in year 2 of its operations and is continuing to grow and pioneer green construction materials and innovation. It’s a great time to join a winning team.

This is a new and exciting opportunity at EcoSpex based at our Toronto or Sudbury office. Reporting to the Technical Director, this position is responsible for verification services (like auditing) construction product manufactures technical, sustainability and utility requirements. EcoSpex understands that establishing common criteria for third-party verification and quality assurance is critical to the advancement to the green building industry. To facilitate a comprehensive and consistent review of the verification process, EcoSpex has developed a Quality Assurance Process, which consists of a Verification Process Manual describing the process, procedures and policies to be carried out. You will utilize our 3rd party verification quality assurance process. You will ensure appropriate reporting is completed internally and to external to our extended verification team. The successful candidate is familiar with LEED, passion for green buildings, and understanding a product manufactures requirements for this market.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Works directly with the Technical Director, liaising with Manufacturers in the preparation for new product listings, undertaking product research assessment, website listings and maintenance.
Refining internal verification processes
Provide administrative and reporting support for OPA when necessary
Provide verification services
Track verification time and communication
Report on client issues and verification status
Identify bottlenecks, missing information in verification process or questionnaire

Reporting to:

Direct Reporting to Verification Manager and Founder
Indirect Reporting to Project Manager
Direct responsibility for Junior Product researcher and volunteer (s)
Support OPA partner website downloading /updates

Tasks:

Conducting Verification Process
Administering questionnaire
Liaising with clients to ensure questionnaire is completed correctly
Providing verification services
Track verification progress
Tracking progress of verification process
Maintaining logs of duration and effort time
Maintaining logs of communication
Identifying bottlenecks, missing information in verification process or questionnaire and reporting these to Andrew
Report client issues/ strategic issue to Julie
Contribute in refining internal verification processes
Managing and training volunteers and junior researchers
Provide training to junior researchers
Sign-off on volunteer and junior researchers work
Provide administrative and reporting support for OPA when necessary
Helping to manage data collection
Provide insight into the data collection and verification process
Develop the QA manual based upon international best practices

Qualifications:

MASc, Building Science or Environmental/Civil Engineer and or Graduate Architect.
Familiar with CSC/CSI (Masterformat/Uniformat)
Eco-materials research for numerous projects
Detail oriented/can work on your own/not always with the team
Deep knowledge in the green building product sector, compliance to green product standards, process & assessment standards
Knowledge in LEED (as well as other rating programs)
Excellent organization
Project management, able to handle multiple on-going tasks
Excellent communication
Research abilities are outstanding
Ability to manage and work with interns/volunteers
Can work efficient and under tight timelines
