Leadnow.ca is looking to add an experienced field organizer to our team as we scale up our 2015 federal election campaign in Winnipeg. We are hiring a Riding Organizer to work with the Leadnow Winnipeg Community Action Team to deepen and grow our campaign in Elmwod-Transcona. Is this position for you? Primary Responsibilities:
Organizers will be responsible for recruiting and training volunteer leaders, and supporting them in developing strong, volunteer-led teams. They will manage volunteer training and recruitment, voter contact programs such as phone banks and canvasses, and other mobilization initiatives. The positions will report to the Manager of National Organizing.
Lead and implement a sustained campaign of direct community outreach, to collect thousands of vote pledges through a variety of tactics including canvassing, event outreach and more.
Identify and recruit team members for riding level core leadership teams.Adapt national campaign strategies and messages to respond to the local, political and demographic conditions
Build leadership within the riding teams by planning and implementing leadership and skills trainings.
Maintain meticulous data tracking in our NationBuilder database.
Training and Support:
As part of our organizing team, you will receive:
training in the Marshall Ganz model of community organizing and will be applying, testing and have ownership of its evolution as it’s applied in Canada
an introduction to tactics for data driven campaigning
mentoring and support in everything from engagement organizing trainings to distributed phone banking with a predictive dialer.

Minimum of 1-2 years related experience in a campaign setting (political or non-profit).
Demonstrated passion for social change, citizen engagement and holding governments accountable.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage teams and volunteers.
Quick strategic instincts that can see political realities and create practical plans.
Willingness to test ideas and step outside your comfort zone.
Strong communications skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work flexible hours (evenings and weekends) and manage complex and dynamic projects.
Self-directed, self-motivated, and ready to take initiative in identifying gaps and finding and implementing solutions, involving other team members as needed.
Extremely well organized and comfortable working with online technologies such as Googledocs, Skype, Facebook, Google Hangouts, shared calendars, etc.
Committed to supporting leadership and participation of volunteers with varied experience .
We’d love it if you also have…
Strong technological aptitude and proficiency – previous experience using Customer Relationship Management (“CRM”) software, such as NationBuilder, posting to websites and social media, and using mass mailer software.
Fluency in a second language, especially one spoken by communities in our target ridings
Experience performing media relations responsibilities (writing press releases, pitching stories, fielding media calls, acting as a spokesperson) in a political context .
Graphic design experience.
Training and facilitation experience.
Experience working remotely.
