BF&M Canada is a wholly owned subsidiary of BF&M Limited. BF&M Limited has been a leading full service insurer in Bermuda for over 110 years (www.bfm.bm). BF&M Canada resources have been providing in-house software development, support and testing services as well as Infrastructure and operations support within BF&M’s Corporate IT department since 2004.
BF&M Canada is looking to employ a System Administrator to join our busy infrastructure team. The team is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and monitoring of our entire network and server infrastructure, as well as for planning and deploying new systems. The candidate will be based in our Halifax, Nova Scotia office, and may require occasional travel to some of our offices in the Caribbean. The candidate should also have experience working with distributed teams and remote resources.
Role and Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Design, installation and management of UNIX, Linux and Windows computer operating systems
Scripting
Support tools development
Act as primary technical representative in the security policy development process
Management of System Inventory
Design, implement, and manage user authentication at network level
Design systems enabling change and release management and other IT management functions
Design and apply standard build procedures
Design and implement technical business discovery processes
Contribute to the design and implementation of IT governance processes e.g. incident management, change control, etc.
Constantly monitor and assess systems to make sure that processes are operating as designed
Ensure that hardware is adequately sized and configured; conduct capacity planning scenarios to meet future needs
Develop, administer, and maintain policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of all systems
Follow and uphold Security policies
Act as a technical resource during other projects as required
Required Qualifications:
Five or more years of experience as a Systems Administrator in a mixed Windows and Linux/UNIX environment
Significant PowerShell and/or Perl scripting experience
LDAP Development
SQL Server or other database experience as a developer or administrator
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
A disciplined approach to your work
Applicants with experience in the following areas will have a distinct advantage:
Java, C# or C++ experience
SQL Server 2008 and administration experience
Windows Server 2008 and 2012 administration experience
Cisco data and voice experience
Checkpoint firewall experience
SharePoint administration experience
Exchange administration experience, ideally with Exchange 2010
