Position Description:
Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Sustainability Programs Lead oversees the planning, development and execution of environmental-focused youth engagement programs, including the Envirolab (60%) and other programs (40%).
Key responsibilities:
Program Development (Scoping, Design, Strategy)
Carry out research and stakeholder mapping of existing initiatives and players in the realm of the program’s issue focus area (ie. food waste, zero waste, circular economies)
Develop strategic partnerships with organizations, institutions and community leaders for the design and implementation of the program
Build out the program design, session plans and curriculum
Implement different ‘innovation tools’ like design thinking, human-centred design and ideation processes
Coordinate, build relationships with, and convene Steering Committee members to ensure adequate input and support for the program
Program Delivery & Facilitation
Manage the recruitment of participants for the program, including an application and selection process (dependent on program)
Work with communications staff to develop graphics and program communications materials
Lead facilitation of program sessions, with potential support from fellow staff, youth facilitators and guest partners
Evaluation & Reporting
Actively monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of new and current programming on an ongoing basis
Produce reports on programs as needed
Support the development of funding or grant proposals and applications for ongoing programming
Ongoing Alumni Engagement
Plan and facilitate ongoing alumni engagement and professional development opportunities for program participants
Collaborate with other staff to develop and facilitate the Project Hub and support alumni projects
Other Organizational Support
Support other CityHive team members in their projects and programs, as needed
Provide other internal and strategic support for the organization, including some operational and admin opportunities (ie. communications, strategic planning, CRM systems)
Qualifications
A strong understanding and interest in climate and environmental issues, civic engagement practices and youth engagement is an asset
Strong personal alignment with our values, mission and vision
Expertise in innovation, design thinking and human-centered design
Experience working with a wide variety of stakeholders and is comfortable working in diverse cultural contexts, with community members, government
Experience in program or process design, session planning and/or curriculum development
Strong skillset in facilitation; experience in youth-focused facilitation is an asset
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; can create reports and blogs independently
A self-starter, strong sense of initiative, and ability to work well independently and in a team
Comfortable using the Microsoft Office Suite (ie Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or equivalent; skillset in additional technological tools is an asset
A post-secondary degree in geography, communications, political science, environmental studies, urban planning or other related field(s), or a combination of related work and educational experience is an asset
Eager to learn, contribute to a growing organization, and work in a dynamic, impact-focused work environment
Strong attention to detail and desire to deliver high-quality work
Additional requirements:
Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the role
Have recently (within 2 years prior to the start of the role) completed post-secondary studies
Legally entitled to work in Canada
Canadian citizen, permanent Resident or person who has been granted refugee status;

Work environment:
CityHive is just over three years young. As a relatively new, young, growing organization, you will be working closely in a small dynamic, nimble team. As such, each person on the team is valued and takes on leadership roles in different capacities. We are highly invested in each team member and creating opportunities for personal and professional growth. We are accustomed to learning as we go, being flexible and open, and having fun while doing important work. You will be working remotely for the time being. Some work on evenings and weekends is expected depending on program schedules.

Compensation: $42,000-$50,000 annual salary* (commensurate with experience) plus professional development support
