The Schizophrenia Society of Alberta (SSA) newest housing program; Iris Court provides affordable, permanent, supportive housing to 21 individuals living with serious mental illness and at risk of homelessness. Iris Court provides support staff 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. Services include: 24-hour supervision, 3 meals per day and snacks, fully furnished rooms, free laundry facilities, medication monitoring, and assistance with activities of daily living, recreational and support opportunities and community service referrals.
Supportive Housing Manager:
Reporting to the SSA Provincial Executive Director, the Supportive Housing Manager works with established protocols at Iris Court, health region policies and works collaboratively with Alberta Health Services and all staff at Iris Court. The Housing Manager provides leadership and direction to staff and tenants in a positive and approachable manner.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversees the day-to-day operations including fiscal management, budgets, organizing building contracts/trades people and monitoring of the schedules/maintenance logs
Supervises Tenant Support staff, kitchen/housekeeping staff and conducts regular staff meetings
Ensure that all worksites focus on person centered service delivery and promote a culture that is positive, flexible, creative, and respectful
Assists tenants in accessing community resources and professional services
Observes and reports changes in tenant’s level of functioning (both physical and mental) and level of participation in activities to the Alberta Health Services team.
Is familiar with the Mental Health Act, The Child Welfare Act, the Health Information Act, FOIPP, and other governing legislation
Adheres to established protocols for safety, privacy and confidentiality
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 3 years in a management or supervisory role
A diploma or degree in a related field
3 to 5 years experience in working with individuals living schizophrenia or mental illness
Excellent communication skills – both written and oral
Exceptional organizational skills and proficiency with the Microsoft Suite of office products, and strong computer skills are essential
Excellent interpersonal skills
The ability to work independently with minimal supervision
The ability to meet and set realistic and achievable timelines
Ability to offer supportive supervision to individuals living with mental illness
A criminal records check is required
This position will be open until filled. For this position, SSA offers a starting salary of $50,000 per annum, 4 weeeks paid holidays and a comprehensive benefit package.
