The RDN is a recognized leader in solid waste management, with a progressive Zero Waste Plan, and innovative residual transfer and disposal services.
The Regional District of Nanaimo is seeking a positive, self-motivated and innovative Superintendent of Scale and Transfer Operations to join our team at the Solid Waste Services Department. Reporting to the Manager of Solid Waste, the incumbent is responsible for leading a team of unionized staff and contractors to achieve excellence in solid waste scale and transfer operations. The position is responsible for all aspects of the planning, administration, evaluation and supervision of weigh scale, self-haul drop-off and material transfer services at the Regional Landfill and Church Road Transfer Station.
Qualifications include Undergraduate degree or diploma in environmental studies or a related field, plus five years of related experience in solid waste facilities, including three years’ experience in a supervisory capacity or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Supplementary training in solid waste management, as well as certification by the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) as a Manager of Landfill Operations is preferred.
