Position Background:
The GreenUP Store and Resource Centre is the face of our organization and a community hub for Peterborough residents to access products, services, and resources that support more sustainable living. It also promotes GreenUP’s programs and partner organizations’ activities to advance our mission to educate, inform, and empower the residents of Peterborough. The store sells equipment and products that are carefully selected as eco-friendly alternatives to existing products.
This position is responsible for the coordination of all aspects of GreenUP’s Store and Resource Centre.
Key Responsibilities:
All aspects of the operation of a retail outlet including opening and closing the store, handling sales (cash, debit & credit), and the reconciliation of daily sales
Front line customer service
Respond to inquiries for information about GreenUP’s programs, as well as about related environmental services and programs in the region
Assist with inventory management, including restocking shelves
Assist with researching relevant and exciting products for store
Liaise with consignees, as needed
Assist with quarterly inventory reconciliation
Act as reception for incoming calls and visitors
Maintain cleanliness and beauty of the store

Attention to Detail: The applicant is organized, manages time well, has money-handling experience, and has strong attention to detail
Conscientiousness: Ability to juggle multiple priorities, effectively able to balance short-term needs of the store with larger longer-term goals
Part-Time Associate
Initiative: Identifies necessary improvements, streamlines processes where possible, identifies new directions and priorities, and is proactive in bringing these forward
Communication & Computer Skills: Strong verbal, written, and design skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Data Entry Management, and QuickBooks is preferred
Environmentally-minded: Demonstrated commitment to the environment and community through previous work or volunteerism
Qualifications:
Minimum 2-years experience in retail, public education, or customer service, ideally in a not-for-profit setting
Knowledge of environmental issues
Comfortable working alone
The successful candidate will be required to produce a current Police Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to GreenUP immediately upon hire
Valid Driver’s License considered an asset
