One of Toronto’s newest and most innovative sports facility is Monarch Park Stadium. This $5 million+ stadium is conveniently located in Toronto’s east end one block south of Coxwell subway station on the Bloor/Danforth Line. The stadium is located directly behind Monarch Park Collegiate. MPS offers users a state-of-the-art athletic facility that provides the “best of the best” including: an artificial turf field by Field Turf, a Beynon BSS1000 running track surface, Musco Sports Lights and a Farley Group winter dome. Monarch Park Stadium also includes a brand new 5,500 sq. ft. clubhouse with contemporary amenities including: full service washrooms, change rooms, showers and lockers.
Monarch Park Stadium is home to multiple children’s programs including After School Club, Sports Camps and Little Leaguers. Children need at least sixty minutes of physical activity a day. Monarch Park Stadium encourages a love for physical activity with sports programs to suit all ages. After School Club caters to children 4-12 years of age who enjoy physical activity and sport in a fun, friendly environment. Sports camps run on PA Days, March Break and summer break for children age 3-12. Little Leaguers encourages a love for Sport for life by promoting physical literacy and basic sports knowledge for children ages 2-5 and 5-9 in soccer and baseball. Monarch Park Stadium is the organizer and operator of all sports programs.
We are hiring the following position:
MPS SPORTS PROGRAM INSTRUCTOR – PART-TIME POSITION
The program instructor will be responsible for assisting with MPS Sports Programs including:
After School Club
Little Leaguers – Youth Soccer and Baseball League
Camps: PA Day, March Break, Summer
Instructors are expected to work shifts during Youth Programs
Hours of work may be on weekdays or weekends
Job Description:
MPS Sports Program instructors will be required to teach various sports, games, and activities to children of all ages. They must follow programming for all different sports activities and lead the programs for After School Club, Sports Club and Sports Camps. Children range from 2-12 for all sports programs. Instructors must be enthusiastic and fun while leaving a lasting memory with all children.
Minimum Job Requirements:
The successful candidate must possess a valid Emergency First Aid and CPR B certification. The certification must be current during the employment period.
The candidate must have youth sports coaching experience with a broad knowledge of sports such as soccer, track, baseball, ultimate Frisbee and other sports.
The candidate should have strong practical skills and the ability to demonstrate and teach to various levels and age groups.
Previous experience leading children’s sports programs is an asset
Employment offer is conditional upon receipt of a Criminal Records Search, Vulnerable Sector Screening that is acceptable to the City of Toronto.
Duties:
Pickup up to 12 children from various schools in the Monarch Park area and return to Monarch Park Stadium
Supervising various sporting and other related activities at Monarch Park Stadium and Monarch Park.
Instructing 1hr Sports Club session with toddlers ages 2-9.
Homework supervision and assistance for Kindergarten to Grade 6 children
Experience communicating with parent/guardians
Creating, planning and organizing children’s activities suitable for all ages
Accident prevention and safety awareness/maintenance at all times
Ensuring participation in a friendly and enjoyable environment
Skills:
Must be energetic and active and enjoy working and playing with children of all ages.
Must be responsible to ensure safety and enjoyment of all children.
Must enjoy and participate in various sports and related physical activities
Must be organized and have administrative experience
Quick learner who demonstrates the ability to adapt to new situations; remains calm & level-headed in all types of situations
