The Ottawa Valley Chapter of the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS-OV) has a need for additional fundraising and sponsorship support. The organization is seeking expressions of interest from individuals who may have the skills required to develop and deliver on an organization sponsorship plan. We are of the opinion that our brand (nature conservation, connecting people to nature) would be of interest to select local and regional businesses with the means to partner with CPAWS-OV on events, through our annual calendar or through branded products where a portion of the proceeds would come to CPAWS-OV (for example, a Gatineau Park burger, where a certain percentage from each one sold would support our efforts to protect the park, etc…). Our more immediate need is related to events planned for the fall of 2015, however we feel there could be a number of sponsorship opportunities associated with various elements of our work, namely our school programs, public hikes and our conservation campaigns related to some high profile areas like Gatineau Park, the National Capital Greenbelt, the Dumoine River and Algonquin Park.
The project would thus involve developing a sponsorship plan and actively soliciting sponsorships and building relationships.
While the funding for this position is not currently in place, we are nonetheless seeking expressions of interest from individuals who feel they could drive this initiative forward. We are open to flexible arrangements, including working from home.
The ideal candidate would possess experience in fundraising and donor relations, especially with small and medium sized businesses where sponsorships would have been sought for events and in support of organizations. They should be familiar with the Ottawa and Gatineau market, ideally including areas like Chelsea and Wakefield which are “warm” to CPAWS-OV as a result of the presence of the park and the visitors it brings. Some knowledge of local conservation issues would be an asset, but not absolutely required. Flexible schedules and access to a vehicle is key. The ability to communicate in French would be considered an asset.
