The City of Kimberley is seeking a motivated individual for the position of Senior Manager of Operations. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the Senior Manager of Operations will be the City’s chief operations officer responsible for engineering, technical, operations, maintenance and construction management services for all infrastructure, including facilities, parks infrastructure, the roadway network, water and wastewater systems, natural systems, and solid waste management sites. The Senior Manager will also be part of the City’s direction sponsoring community sustainability and will work with the City Planner on the City’s growth and neighbourhood development portfolios.
The Senior Manager of Operations is responsible for municipal infrastructure standards, maintenance and rehabilitation as well as infrastructure life cycle management and infrastructure replacement strategies. Core responsibilities include policy development, operations planning, asset management, service level development, budget management, resource planning, and operations performance management. Upcoming projects of note include the development of a new waste water treatment plant and revitalization of Kimberley’s downtown core.
Qualifications:
The City will consider applications from qualified professional engineers and engineering technologists with a minimum of 5 years of experience in municipal engineering, construction, operations and/or related fields. Candidates at the top of the list will be proven leaders, with senior management experience in the public sector, preferably in municipal government. They will be lifelong learners who have supplemented their formal post-secondary education with ongoing professional development. They will have a career path that
shows a progressive increase in responsibility in both the technical and managerial aspects of infrastructure design, construction, maintenance and rehabilitation, and they will have managed a maintenance and construction work force of 50 employees or more in a unionized environment.
The City is looking for a Senior Manager with well-developed participative leadership skills and a team player capable of working effectively in a council and committee environment. The candidate will be interested in, and sensitive to, the communication and public relations requirements of an actively involved community.
