Senior Manager, Finance – Conservation Halton

Your Opportunity
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Senior Manager of Finance plays a critical part of the finance team and is responsible for providing leadership to a team that ensures the financial records of Conservation Halton are prepared in accordance with Public Sector Accounting Board standards and the Conservation Authorities Act. This position provides financial expertise and support to senior management and peers and oversees general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll.
Provide financial leadership, advice, and support to all Conservation Halton departments and management
Responsible for the management of accounting services at Conservation Halton
Oversee month end processes and preparation of financial statements, budget variance reports and in year financial projections
Prepare financial analysis and recommendations for information reports to management and the Board of Directors
Manage the fiscal year-end processes, preparation of year-end working papers, draft financial statements for auditors and coordinate the year end audit.
Oversee the maintenance of the Great Plains accounting software, including the financial reporting module
Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial reporting to funding agencies and other stakeholders
Provide leadership and supervision to the finance team, including hiring, performance management and professional development
Develop, recommend, and ensure adherence to financial policies, procedures, and internal controls

Your Qualifications
5-7 years of leadership experience, preferably in the public sector
Experience in public sector accounting
Post secondary education in Commerce, Business Administration, Finance or Accounting
Professional Accounting Designation (CGA, CMA, or CPA)
Knowledge of public sector accounting guidelines, Conservation Authority Act and municipal financial reporting and budget practices would be an asset
Experience working in a Windows environment utilizing Microsoft Office applications, advanced proficiency utilizing MS Excel is required
Strong accounting and analytical skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines
An analytical mindset with the ability to translate into action with a strong problem-solving ability
Self-motivated and ability to take pro-active initiative
Proactive goal oriented, results driven, and customer focussed
Knowledge of Great Plains accounting software would be an asset
Knowledge of Public Sector Account Board (PSAB) requirements would be an asset
