Senior Communications Manager – GreenPAC

Position Overview
The Senior Communications Manager will lead on most facets of GreenPAC’s communications and marketing, positioning the organization’s unique programs and results and helping to attract new and on-going support. The Manager will lead on priorities such as GreenPAC’s annual communications and marketing strategies, event planning, and building GreenPAC’s social media profile, and will play a key role in developing and implementing fundraising campaigns and initiatives. This position reports to the Executive Director and works closely and collaboratively with other program managers and the board-led Fundraising Committee.

Responsibilities:
Leads Communications and Marketing for GreenPAC (65%)
Leads the development, implementation and evaluation of GreenPAC’s annual communications and marketing strategy
Manages and implements public communications through GreenPAC’s website, e-blast, blog, and social media channels; ensures content is current, engaging and high-impact, with the aim of growing our reach and profile
Develops and maintains GreenPAC’s branding and communication guidelines and tools
Manages GreenPAC’s contact management database
Develops and maintains marketing and fundraising materials, such as brochures and corporate sponsorship packages
Identifies and secures speaking engagements and earned-media opportunities, including op eds, letters to the editor, guest columns, and other third-party content pieces, and equips the Executive Director and/or Board members to act as strong spokespersons for GreenPAC
Leads the strategy and development of GreenPAC’s annual report
Leads planning and logistics for GreenPAC fundraising events, including our annual leadership breakfasts on Parliament Hill and in Toronto
Manages other in-house communications and marketing projects as needed.
Supports Fundraising Campaigns & Initiatives (25%)
Supports the Executive Director and Fundraising Committee in the development and implementation of fundraising strategies and proposals and leads on e-appeal campaigns
Supports the Executive Director in reporting back to donors and supporters on the value and impact of GreenPAC’s work
Supports the Executive Director and Fundraising Committee in developing and implementing strategies to grow and maintain GreenPAC’s list of supporters and individual donors
Supports Election Campaigns & Initiatives (10%)
Works together with the Executive Director to plan and implement election candidate endorsement campaigns, including recruiting and managing volunteers and leading communications with candidates and the public
Supports the Executive Director to plan and implement other, special election-related events.

Desired Skills and Experience
Relevant post-secondary degree in Communications, Marketing or a related field (relevant experience will be considered instead)
3-5 years’ experience in lead communications or marketing roles (in any sector, including civil)
Design skills and experience or comfort with a variety of platforms, such as NationBuilder, WordPress, InDesign
Experience using creative communications and design skills and tactics to communicate value and impact to supporters
Exceptional writing and editing abilities, with experience successfully communicating across different mediums and with different audiences
Experience with digital fundraising and social media campaigns
Experience planning and executing successful events
Project management experience; organized, manages time well and able to move back and forth between strategy and day-to-day implementation
Takes initiative, self-driven, nimble – able to work in a fast-paced, virtual environment that frequently needs to adapt to new opportunities
Strong interpersonal skills to manage relationships with team members, Board, external partners; some experience managing people or teams is desirable
Experience writing about Canadian politics and/or environmental issues
Election or equivalent campaign experience;
Bilingual (French/English)
