The Senior Administrative Officer (SAO) is responsible for providing advice and support to Mayor and Council when developing policies, programs and strategies to communicate and advance the fundamental goals of the Town of Hay River. The SAO leads the management, administration and delivery of all Town programs and services in order to ensure that they are implemented in an effective and efficient manner, reflecting Council priotities, and within all legislative, policy and procedural guidelines. Leading the senior management team, the SAO advances interdepartmental cooperation through the sharing or resources and effective planning of projects and initiatives. The SAO develops valuable relationships with partners and outside agencies, including other levels of government and local governments in the region.
The SAO would normally attain the required knowledge, skills and attitudes through completion of a Bachelor’s Degree/post secondary education in Public Administration, Business Administration, Commerce plus at least 5 years progressively senior positions/experience in related areas. Equivalencies will be considered.
