The Victoria Airport Authority (VAA) manages and operates the Victoria International Airport, which is the 10th busiest airport in Canada and the gateway to Vancouver Island.

Position Overview
The VAA is recruiting for an energetic self-starter to join our team.  As the Security Operations Officer, you will report to the Director, Security & Terminal Operations and will normally work a 37.5 hour work week.  This bargaining unit position is responsible for a wide variety of tasks associated with airport security operations and the related service to customers.  This includes responsibility for airport compliance with the Canadian Aviation Security Regulations, Aerodrome Security Measures, Air Carrier Security Measures, Security Screening Measures, Identity Screening Regulations, and other applicable government acts and regulations.

Required Education & Experience includes:

Knowledge of applicable legislative and regulatory processes, measures, and policies, investigative techniques and security technologies, as well as Transport Canada ‎Security and Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) policies and procedures is strongly preferred.
Experience with risk assessments, audits and complex investigations of security incidents.
Experience providing guidance, training and direction to stakeholders, contracted security professionals, and employees regarding security issues.
Strong customer service, conflict resolution and interpersonal skills to monitor and enhance the airport security experience
A demonstrated ability to be tactful, exhibit excellent judgment, and work both independently and as a positive, collaborative team member at VAA.
