Seasonal Labourer Positions – District of North Vancouver

The District of North Vancouver’s Parks & Engineering Division is recruiting self-motivated, hard-working, responsible team players for temporary full-time and auxiliary positions. As many of our full-time staff began work as temporary and auxiliary employees, this is an excellent opportunity to determine if a career in public service is for you. If you have a clean driving record, experience driving/operating 3ton trucks/trailers & grounds maintenance equipment including tractors, hold a current/valid Traffic Control Person certificate, Level 1 First Aid Certificate, experience in landscaping construction & maintenance, horticulture, carpentry, trail work, concrete, utilities infrastructure, garbage collection or general construction, we would like to hear from you.

We are currently seeking mature, physically fit, safety-minded individuals who enjoy the challenging weather conditions of the North Shore, and who have experience and education in the following areas:

Parks
Sports field & turf grass maintenance management equipment operations
Trail & related structure construction & maintenance
Horticulture & landscape maintenance training & practical experience
Road median irrigation & street tree/plant health care/watering
Streets
Streets, curb & sidewalk repair & construction – Storm drainage cleaning & maintenance
Vegetation brushing, ditching & grass cutting – Asphalt repair & maintenance
Utilities (EOCP Water Distribution 1 and Sanitary Collection System 1 certifications preferred)
Sewer / water-main repair, construction & maintenance
Water quality
Solid Waste (Class 3 license with Air Endorsement required)
Residential / commercial garbage collection
Green waste collection
You have completed the 12th grade, possess related experience and are familiar with powered construction and landscaping equipment, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A valid Class 3 or 5 B.C. Driver’s Licence and abstract that reflects a safe driving record is required. The wage rates for these unionized positions begin at $26.64.
