Sales Manager – Canatec – St. John’s

Position
Sales Manager, reporting initially to the Marketing and Sales Manager. It is our expectation that the Sales Manager will become part of the senior management team of the company, responsible for driving rapid growth and profitability. Work will involve the following critical groups of activities:

Assisting the M&S Manager to define and develop global product distribution mechanisms, and implement market development plans
Defining sales strategy, product pricing and budget, developing sales materials, executing sales activities
Liaising with M&S Manager and other team members to ensure customer performance requirements are considered in future product developments

Professional Qualifications
Appropriate university degree
Capability in at least one language other than English
International experience and knowledge of multiple languages an important asset
Professional experience/understanding of R&D-based software/electronics/instrumentation products
Domain expertise in safety, Search and Rescue (SAR), marine, offshore or Emergency Medical Services (EMS) an important asset
Proven ability to innovate, collaborate, inspire, communicate and lead
10 + years experience in sales

Company
Canatec (www.canatec.ca) is a Calgary-based company with offices in St. John’s and The Hague. The company is a world leader in consulting services involved with sea ice/icebergs for the offshore petroleum industry. We have used that expertise to innovate a new line of electronic instrumentation and software products in the marine SAR area, which are now being extended into the EMS area. The St. John’s office is the focus for this innovation work. We have spent several years doing R&D to innovate the first of these new products and are now nearing commercialization. As these new products enter the marketplace, the company is poised for rapid growth.

Product Line
Ice consulting services will continue; the Sales Manager will advise the senior professionals involved with these products how they can improve their sales activities
SAR products for the offshore petroleum and marine industries (personnel location/alarm beacons with decision-support software), which will evolve to sell into broader industrial markets
EMS products where our communication devices control personal emergency medical devices
Physiological monitoring systems using our biometrics and communication device for ensuring employee safety during routine activities in the workplace.

Timing
Start of employment must be January-February 2016

Location
Based at our office in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador

Requirements
Eager to travel anywhere in the world as our markets are global
50% of time must be outside the NL office in conferences, meetings with customers and liaising with our other offices and distributors
Must have or take up official residence in the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador during the critical growth stage of this business
Must have Canadian citizenship or work permit in hand
Must have excellent spoken and written command of English

Base Salary plus Employee Stock Option Plan and Incentive Plan; employee benefits package
