Due to company expansion into new markets, a fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Recycling Business Development Manager, to implement and develop the new recycling trading section of our company. The role will involve identifying and securing profitable quality materials from global producers to feed our global markets with a focus on producers with high quality recyclate.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with broad knowledge of the recycling and waste industry. Strong commercial negotiating skills are essential to this position along with the motivation to achieve agreed targets and deadlines. The ideal candidate will be university educated, be a member of a recognised recycling/waste association and have previous experience in European recycling markets.

 Duties include, but not limited to:

Proactively identify new customers including carrying out effective sales calls.
Source new markets for recycling materials.
Work closely with the Account Managers to ensure all client expectations are adhered too.
Collating and providing business intelligence on all recycling material types, values, customers and competitors at a global level.
Maintain good customer relations and a high standard of service.
Providing accurate reports as required, in line with line management and Company requirements.
Preparing weekly statistics reports using data generated from our sales order processing systems.
Assisting with month end accounting processes. This will include reviewing the billing and purchasing activity up to the month end, analysis and resolution of significant variances and the preparation of management reports and key performance indicators within set deadlines.
Assisting in annual budgeting and monthly forecasting processes; assisting in the preparation of budgets, preparing updated forecasts as part of month end process and reviewing information provided by the sites within set deadlines.

Education and Experience

Degree from recognised university
Minimum five years experience in the recycling and waste industry

Skills and Abilities

Strong commercially astute negotiating skills
Good communication skills both written and verbally
Previous sales experience
Self-motivated with the drive to achieve goals and targets
Knowledge of the recycling market and waste production
Excellent Management accounting knowledge, with the ability to quickly understand, analyse and interpret financial information
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain financial requirements in a straightforward manner
Well organised with a high level of attention to detail
Computer literacy – MS Excel, Access, Word and Outlook
Experience of working within the European Recycling and Waste Management industry
Contacts in the European Recycling market is desirable but not essential to the role
Other languages are considered a valuable asset to this position
