Island Recruiting is currently searching for an experienced Quality Director, to manage its two production facilities in Mississauga, Ontario and in Summerside, Prince Edward Island. This person can be based in either location and will oversee all Quality and Engineering staff in both locations. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar role and be results focused with a passion to create, measure, and achieve company objectives. The candidate will be focused on excellent quality by improving the Engineering and Quality assurance process.

Job Summary:
The Quality Director will oversee all quality engineering activities, engineering audits, and industry or client specific approvals and is responsible for the delivery on continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:
• Manage the Corporate quality manual and Quality Assurance Practices and processes.
• Manage the “Inspection” process.
• Responsible for Maintaining ISO & NADCAP Certifications.
• Responsible for all Quality and Engineering communication with company clients.
• Maintain Calibration and tool monitoring systems.
• Ensure Compliance with Domestic and International regulatory requirements.
• Oversee the quality & engineering department and corporate goals.
• Uphold and promote safety, quality, and production plans and maintain the facility.
• Responsible for maintaining audits and approvals for departments.
• Ensure 100% compliance with internal and external activities mandated by the company’s quality manual and systems.
• Report and manage internal and external corrective actions.
• Responsible for the management and maintenance of engineering and quality documentation, documentation control, and configuration management.
• Lead continuous improvement throughout the company.
• Manage, organize, and assist in hiring of quality and engineering staff.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment and comply with company safety policies and practices.
• Resolve quality related personnel problem.
• Contribute to a team effort by accomplishing department related goals.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• 10 years of experience in leading and managing quality assurance and engineering departments.
• Strong knowledge of aerospace industry standards and expectations.
• Production control experience is an asset.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and planning skills.
• Ability to analyze problems and delegate.
• Lean manufacturing experience, 5S experience, Six Sigma is beneficial.
• Computer skills in JOB Boss, Microsoft, Cad Software.
• Strong knowledge of quality control and engineering systems.
• Professional ethics, tact, and courtesy in dealing with employees.
