Protective Services Supervisor – Regional District of East Kootenay

The Regional District of East Kootenay is seeking a positive, self-motivated and energetic individual to effectively manage the delivery of RDEK’s emergency preparedness programs and services. Under the direction of the Building & Protective Services Manager, the Protective Services Supervisor is responsible for emergency planning and preparedness and supporting the administration of RDEK Fire and Rescue, and 911 Services. emerg

Qualifications and experience include:
Thorough knowledge of the operation of volunteer fire departments and the principles, practices, and objectives of emergency planning and fire and rescue services;
Emergency Management Certificate or equivalent;
5 years’ experience in an emergency management environment;
3 years’ experience in a supervisory role;
Thorough knowledge and proficiency in the operation of MS Office Suite;
Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence; and
Completion of Grade 12.

Key Skills and Abilities:
Professional competence in the development and administration of emergency management programs and fire administration support;
Develop effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
Demonstrated competency in project management;
Supervise and provide leadership;
Organize and prioritize the work of staff, contractors and volunteers;
Competence public speaking and report writing; and
Ability to work evenings and weekends, as required, and to be on call including in emergency situations after hours.

This is a permanent, full-time (35 hours per week) Union position with a starting hourly rate $36.21 and provision for on call pay.
