PROJECT BACKGROUND
The Textile Lab for Circularity (TLC) is a 2-year Social Innovation Lab. Our co-founding organizations are the Society Promoting Environmental Conservation (SPEC) and The Leverage Lab. The TLC’s vision is to divert 100% of textile waste from landfill in the Metro Vancouver region. This project vision is on a 10-20 year timeline, with a first 2-year cycle spanning 2020 to 2022. We use The Leverage Lab™ method (a facilitated lab process) to prototype solutions for used textiles, by drawing on the collective intelligence of stakeholders throughout the textile lifecycle. This process helps competitors overcome barries to collaboration, and work alongside government and academic institutions on collaborative solutions to shared sustainability challenges.
2020-2022 OBJECTIVES OF THE TLC
The goals of the TLC in its first two years of growth are to:
Help apparel businesses to see and realize the cost savings involved in making the shift to circularity.
Influence policy makers to make policy changes that favour circularity within the GVA and B.C’s apparel system at large.
Generate at least 4 knowledge products that have been shared back to the system
Enable participants to complete at least 80% of collaboratively stablished success criteria.
Prototype a collaborative recycling initiative resulting in viable end market possibilities for the apparel industry.
Produce adequate administrative structures to build on this work in the future, beyond 2022.
WHAT THIS CONTRACT POSITION OFFERS:
Experience. You will work closely with experts in the field of waste prevention, circular economy, social labs and textile diversion.
Exposure. This project will bring in a vast network of movers, shakers, supporters from the non profit, for profit and government sectors. You will be brought in at a turnkey level to connect with this network.
Impact. You’ll be able to see your work and its impact in the world with tangible outcomes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As a contracted Project Producer, you will be responsible for the production, coordination and administration of the core business operations such as:
Lead responsibility for the continued development of overall business strategies, goals and above stated objectives of the TLC;
Fulfilling sponsorship and crowdfunding targets;
Develop strategic partnerships and maintain relationships;
Assist Lab facilitator(s) with coordination tasks in order to produce effective in person or online convenings;
Establish and follow-up annual budgets to present to SPEC’
Assist with budget tracking, bookkeeping and the development of good working systems for the TLC and it’s possible innovation projects.
Oversee the hiring of interns; manage interns during their temporary positions to offload administrative tasks;
Assist in the upkeep of the website (Squarespace) – pull knowledge into well framed and well articulated website and communication material;
Assist in the recruitment of Lab participants, sponsors, researchers, partners, and volunteers;
Coordinate research efforts performed between sessions and gather necessary information from participants;
Administrate and organize internal documentation, manage file hygiene;
Administer Requests for Proposals on collection and processing pilots, as emerge in the Lab;
Manage day-to-day administrative work of running the project, such as project management, booking meetings, and taking notes.
Set up and maintain an up to date Customer Resource Management (CRM) system to maintain key relationships and transparency of project delivery.

An excellent communicator and have done your own personal work. You have a talent for reaching out to people, conveying ideas, inspiring change and bringing everyone on board.
Able to work from home.
Experience Requirement
We prefer that you have at least 3-5 years related experience doing consulting, business development, customer service and/or project management.

Compensation:
The total anticipated salary for this contract is between $50,000—$65,000 (dependent on experience) on an annual basis. A portion of this amount is already secured, with the remainder contingent on additional fundraising. The Project Producer will be largely responsible for coordinating fundraising activities to secure the remainder of their contracted salary, with assistance from members of the Lab Team.
Time Commitment and Duration: The project may require more or less hours per week throughout the year to meet project deliverables. The contractor should anticipate to be working on this project full-time (35 hours per week) over approximately 50 weeks per year, for an initial two year period. There is potential for extending the contract, depending on the project’s two year outcomes, long-term trajectory and successful fundraising.
Compensation Includes: Access to shared office space (once it’s safe to do so) and professional development support.
Start Date:
This position begins immediately, contingent on potential adjustments related to the global pandemic, and contractor’s availability.
