About Summerhill
Summerhill designs and implements energy efficiency programs as well as engagement strategies for utilities, retailers, property management groups, corporations and industry associations. Founded in 1993, Summerhill has grown into Canada’s largest sole Canadian-owned Energy Efficiency Program Implementer. We’ve worked with over 50 utilities in Canada across eight provinces and one territory. With offices in Toronto, Regina, Halifax, and Washington, D.C., we have over 50 full-time staff and a resource pool of 900 In-Field Ambassadors.
Role:
The Project Manager provides direction and leadership for their respective project(s), is responsible for ensuring cohesive and consistent program delivery on time, on budget, on target, with a successful team and client’s satisfaction within established quality standards. The Project Manager is responsible for leading the project planning, implementation and close-out processes while managing various project team members and stakeholders.
Accountability and reporting:
This role reports to the Director Atlantic Canada working out of our Halifax office with project based line reporting if required. Project Managers are typically supported by project staff and other Summerhill personnel. This support team may include:

Responsibilities:
Project Management
Creates and executes project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
Identifies resources needed and assigns individual responsibilities.
Manages day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope.
Reviews deliverables prepared by team before passing to client (internal or external clients).
Effectively applies Summerhill methodology and enforces project quality standards.
Minimizes organizational exposure and risk on project(s).
Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
Ensures project learnings and outcomes are captured and reported for future reference.
Provides direct supervision to all subordinate members of the project team.
Project Accounting
Understands basic revenue models, P/L, and cost-to-completion projections and makes decisions accordingly.
Ensures project legal documents are completed and signed
Tracks and reports team hours and expenses.
Manages project budget, including monthly summary review and reconciliation
Understands project pricing model and billing procedures.
Ensures timely and accurate invoicing, and monitors project receivables.
Follows up with clients, when necessary, regarding unpaid invoices.
Business Development
Identifies business development and “add-on” sales opportunities as they relate to a specific project.
Shares opportunities for project or client growth with appropriate Account Director
Effectively conveys corporate message in both written and verbal business development discussions.
Develops project budgets for new project design based on knowledge of delivery and resource requirements
Communication
Facilitates team and client meetings effectively.
Holds regular status meetings with project team.
Keeps project team well informed of changes to project scope and plan.
Effectively communicates relevant project information to project stakeholders, internal and external clients.
Delivers engaging, informative, well-organized presentations.
Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion.
Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.
Stakeholder Management
Manages day-to-day interaction with project stakeholders (internal and external customers, vendors and other interested parties).
Develops lasting relationships with client personnel that foster ongoing relationships.
Communicates effectively with clients to identify needs.
Long term measurement and evaluation:
Meets all project deliverables as outlined in project charter and consistently works in a productive manner
Shows a strong business acumen including superior problem solving, planning, organizing, budgeting, negotiation and change management skills
Efficient day-to-day staff management; time well managed between internal deliverables and external business/project deliverables
Develops strong interpersonal relationships that support project and organizational success
Demonstrates effective and appropriate, initiative judgment and decision making skills
Demonstrates strong communications skills
Demonstrates the ability to take on a leadership role
Job Skill Requirements
At least three (3) years of project management experience
Has completed a post-secondary education in a related field (business, engineering, environmental studies, project management, communications, and marketing, other as applicable).
Competent with excel, PowerPoint, and Google applications
Additional and valuable competencies/skills:
Bilingualism in English and French a strong asset
Energy efficiency program design and delivery
Experience with residential energy assessment programs
Energy assessment experience (3-5 years)
NRCan energy advisor / trainer / quality assurance certification
Quality Assurance program design and delivery experience
Qualification for Professional Engineering (P. Eng) certification or working towards certification
Energy modeling software skills
