We are currently seeking a hardworking, dynamic and motivated individual to add to our team who has a strong passion for people and the environment.  Our approach is always collaborative and team oriented.  In this stimulating role of Project Coordinator – Yarmouth Community Stormwater you will report to the Program Coordinator – Water.

Program Overview:
Clean Foundation’s Stormwater Engagement Program is a community-based approach to stormwater management in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia that aims to raise awareness of the problems resulting from excess stormwater, and to engage and educate the community on individual actions that can mitigate stormwater problems.

Position Overview:
The Project Coordinator will be based in Yarmouth Nova Scotia and is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the Stormwater Engagement project which includes: project planning and delivery, ensuring deliverables are met, budget tracking, overseeing volunteers and staff, drafting project reports, and working with partners to achieve project outcomes.  They will be responsible for conducting educational workshops for youth and other groups in the tri-county school board community.  This work will include workshop delivery, preparing promotional materials, coordinating the delivery of workshop supplies and materials, etc.  The project coordinator will also be responsible for coordinating the construction of a series of stormwater demonstration projects in Yarmouth (e.g. rainwater harvesting systems, rain gardens, bioswales, French drains, etc.).  Throughout the summer, the project coordinator will also be responsible for conducting residential stormwater assessments and providing recommendations for Yarmouth residents.  This will require, at certain times of the year, working long days outside performing physically demanding labour, heaving lifting and digging.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

Deliver presentations on stormwater and watershed education;
Perform residential stormwater assessments;
Deliver community workshops on residential stormwater management techniques;
Ensure the project is on target for meeting deliverables;
Orient, train, supervise and support staff members and volunteers;
Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders of the project within Yarmouth and beyond;
Ensure the project is operating within the prescribed budgets and notify supervisor of any discrepancies;
Perform basic administrative duties in support of the project and organizations as needed.

Position Requirements/Qualifications:

A degree or diploma in landscape architecture, engineering, water resource management, environmental science, geology or related field;
Knowledgeable about stormwater, and specific water issues in Nova Scotia conditions;
Experience designing and/or delivering educational programs;
Strong communication and organization skills and attention to detail;
Experience writing reports;
Valid Canadian driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle;
Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions;
Ability to lift heavy objects;
Ability to work independently;
Strong computer skills; Outlook, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
Must demonstrate a passion for the environment;
Must be able to complete and pass a criminal background check;
Experience in project coordination considered an asset;
Experience working in a non-profit organization is considered an asset;
Valid First Aid and WHIMIS would be considered an asset.
