Key Responsibilities include:
Supervision and direction of employees, ensuring work is carried out by highly skilled staff; assign workloads, and undertake corrective action.
Identify innovative ways to reduce costs, reallocation of resources, better ways of completing tasks (for self and direct reports).
Lead the creation, documentation and reporting of ongoing business processes to support Transportation Programs.
Ensure Operation Supervisors receive timely and quality support for the effective delivery of Operational requirements.
Monitor the effective delivery of contracted services.
Administer and ensure timely preparation of the Department’s business plan and budget, ensure time and record keeping is accurate, and monitor budget expenditures and report variances.
Work closely with Transportation Manager and Finance in planning, developing and reviewing both the operating and capital budgets.
Monitor department expenditures and work with Operations Supervisors to ensure operations are within established budget.
Make recommendations to prioritize spending to optimize use of available funds.
Produce internal and external information that is the basis for Transportation programs and develop clear communication plans for execution.
Oversee day-to-day resident communications as undertaken by direct reports.
Collaborate with respective departments to ensure consistent and effective communications are undertaken.
To be successful you will have:
A related post-secondary degree accompanied with designation. PMP would be considered an asset.
5 years of relevant accounting and supervisory experience, preferably in a municipal government setting.
Dynamic leadership skills accompanied with strong personnel management skills. Advanced written and verbal communication; ability to make recommendations and decisions; negotiation skills; Very proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office programs; knowledge of budgeting and monitoring expenditures to ensure compliance to the budget; ability to plan, organize and supervise a relevant project ensuring completion in a timely and efficient manner.
A valid driver’s license and acceptable driver’s abstract is required.Awareness of the workings of municipal government would be an asset.
