Program & Research Manager – Grizzly Bear Foundation – Vancouver, BC

PROGRAM & RESEARCH MANAGER
The Grizzly Bear Foundation is seeking an experienced full (optional part-time) Program & Research Manager with education in conservation, environmental science, or ecology to join a small dynamic team.
The Program & Research Manager works with the Executive Directors in planning and developing the organization’s programs, and is responsible for activating and managing education, research and conservation projects, evaluating project efficacy, and reporting project status to the Board of Directors.
The Program & Research Manager is also responsible for communications activities related to support Grizzly Bear Foundation (GBF) programming, including social media storytelling, and writing internal and external brief and position papers.
This position may be a full or part-time role depending on the candidate and experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Programs
Support the Executive Director in developing strategic long-term program goals, plans, and budgets. Provide input on program strategy in accordance to the Foundation’s mission and vision. Work alongside Executive Director to develop new partnerships that further organizational work.
Provide leadership in education, research, and conservation programs, including development and management of all GBF projects. Develop and implement project design, timelines, task lists, supporting resources, staff, contractors and/or partners, divisions of duties, reporting, and evaluation.
Manage the quality and success of program operations through engagement and management of relationships with role-specific staff, volunteers (with training from time to time), and project partners.
Work within budgets and critical paths in accordance with organizational financial procedures and systems. Monitor program budgets and oversee grant and contract compliances.
Work closely with partners and advisors (including our Research Advisory Committee) to ensure initiatives deliver practical and effective outcomes that advance grizzly bear conservation.
Craft and share stories about GBF’s programming, projects, and more, translating technical and scientific information for public audiences, via social media, newsletter, and website.
Provide a mix of research, report design, and writing to support project objectives.
Support the Development Manager with research and writing to support grant applications and donor impact reports.
Assist with high-level planning of GBF operational activities, fundraising, and events.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
A post-secondary degree in conservation, environmental science, or ecology.
Exceptional communication skills – both verbal & written

Time management and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple projects at once with and attention to detail
A strategic thinker with proven problem-solving skills
Ability to adapt to shifting priorities as necessary, communicating as required to others
Proficiency using computers and Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, etc.
Enthusiasm and passion for conservation
Timing, commitment, and location: This position may be a full or part-time role depending on the candidate and experience. Work to be completed at the GBF office in Vancouver, with some flexibility to work from home. Some evenings and weekends may be required, with advance notice. It includes three weeks vacation, with one additional week taken between Christmas and New Years.
Salary: Range $60,000-$70,000 per year depending on the candidate and experience, plus extended benefits and a cell phone allowance.
