Overview Statement:
The Program Manager for Children and Youth Programs at Evergreen Brick Works will be responsible for overseeing the program development and execution of all Children and Youth Education programs at Evergreen Brick Works, including, but not limited to, visiting schools, camps and the weekend public program. They will also be responsible for the development of emerging programs, including supporting fundraising and marketing initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Program Management
Develops annual operating plan and budget for educational programs;
Coordinates volunteer and staff support to help manage the execution of the program;
Works collaboratively with other staff to design, develop and evaluate programs and curriculum-based lesson plans that are in line with Evergreen’s mission and values;
Consults existing Evergreen contacts and partners, including school board partners, community groups, non-profit organizations and professional associations to identify new programming opportunities including curriculum development, marketing and outreach strategies;
Develops new partnership with organizations
Fundraising
Works with development to identify potential funders and conceive and write proposals;
Presents funding proposals to prospective donors/sponsors;
Prepares funding reports/project evaluations and budgets for funders and for internal tracking by Evergreen.
Program Delivery
Establishes rules, policies and guidelines for program building on existing health and safety regulations and risk management guidelines developed for the site;
Ensures all programs are executed to the highest safety and educational standards possible;
Ensures that the program is equipped with the proper materials and equipment and that all tools used for projects are kept safely and in good working order;
Implements training programs for staff, volunteers and interns.
HR Management & Organizational Accountability
Supervised by Director, Children’s Program.
Communicates openly about goals, working styles, expectations and performance
Participates positively as a member of the Evergreen team.
Models Evergreens’ values and adheres to Evergreens operating principles.
Assist in other program tasks as reasonably needed.
Position-Specific Competencies:
Expertise in program management – budgeting, HR, program planning and evaluation
Expertise in designing outdoor experiential education programs that support and enhance curriculum based classroom delivery;
Expertise in creating and managing physically and emotionally safe environments for children and youth;
Expertise in risk management as it related to running year-round outdoor experiential education.
Qualifications:
BEd or equivalent
Preferably a minimum of 3 years classroom teaching experience
Preferably a minimum of 3 years experience leading outdoor experiential education programs
Program or project management experience that includes managing people, budgets and operational plans
First aid training, preferably Wilderness First Aid
Working Conditions:
Regularly outdoors in all seasons during day time hours
