Bring your talent, energy and experience to this unique opportunity. The Fraser Basin Council (FBC) is seeking a full-time staff member to work on our diverse range of programs. You will work in collaboration with several FBC teams and multiple stakeholders to provide digital communications and coordination support for projects aimed at climate change mitigation and adaptation, promotion of Salmon-Safe certification, and youth engagement in sustainability projects. You will help advance FBC’s sustainability vision– social well-being supported by a vibrant economy and sustained by a healthy environment – in a manner consistent with the FBC Charter for Sustainability and to implement the FBC Strategic Plan.
The primary functions of the position are to: 1) work in FBC’s teams to advance digital communications for key projects; and 2) provide program support and coordinate delivery of the program where needed.
Specific duties are as follows:
Develop print and digital communications plans and materials related to key program areas that focus on climate change mitigation and adaptation planning, land management practices for watershed protection, and youth engagement in building sustainable communities
Carry out effective online engagement through social media content curation and creation, copywriting for print and digital media, email marketing, and press releases
Manage e-newsletter campaigns and subscriber lists and perform regular contact list maintenance
Undertake background research on identified projects and develop content for mitigation and adaptation related success stories
Act as a point of contact and engage with individuals, organizations, and other stakeholders on program updates and opportunities
Provide support with other online tools such as webinars and assist with organizing meetings, producing and disseminating discussion summaries, meeting minutes and recording discussion
Support program and engagement evaluation, including developing engagement metrics, providing communications and social media engagement analysis and reporting;
Maintain understanding of social media platforms and online engagement tools used by youth and young adults
Program coordination support for events and general implementation of Climate Change and Air Quality programs
Assist with proposal and grant writing
Raise awareness of FBC, its mandate and activities among key target audiences in the region
Maintain a current understanding of key issues and opportunities in the region that are relevant to FBC’s mandate
Skills and Qualifications
Understanding of climate change mitigation and adaptation planning, as well as land-use planning issues in BC
Excellent writing abilities and well-developed interpersonal and oral communication skills
Knowledge in current and relevant online communication technologies, social media strategies and email marketing applications and products such as: Hootsuite, Google Analytics, Google Ads, and Campaigner
Strong coordination skills with demonstrated experience in managing and tracking projects or contracts
Proficiency with the MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
Great planning and organizational skills with ability to prioritize work and balance multiple activities concurrently
Exceptional organizational, project management and time management skills
Demonstrates critical thinking, initiative, creativity, and resourcefulness
Ability to work independently and also as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
Familiarity with content management systems, such as WordPress, an asset
Post-secondary education and/or equivalent experience in a related field such as planning, Marketing and/or Communications, business, sustainability or environmental management.
