Destination Halifax is the dedicated tourism marketing organization for Halifax. Created through a partnership of the Hotel Association of Nova Scotia and the provincial and municipal governments, Destination Halifax promotes Halifax as a year round destination of choice for business and leisure travellers. On their behalf, we are looking for someone who epitomizes the values, integrity and professionalism of the organization to serve as its President and CEO.

In this role, you will have overall responsibility for running a highly effective, reputable and respected organization within the tourism marketing community. To do this, you will build strong working relationships with business partners and board members, manage an aggressive sales and marketing campaign, ensure the needs of members are fully met, and maintain a supportive culture within the team of Destination Halifax.

What qualities are needed for this role?

The President and CEO of Destination Halifax must be a special person: a multi-talented leader who brings a unique blend of leadership attributes, management skills and personal qualities to the table. Someone who can combine long term, visionary thinking with the day-to-day operations of a very busy organization.

To be considered, you should have proven experience in sales and marketing and the ability to work effectively with a variety of private and public sector stakeholders. You have deep knowledge of the tourism and convention industry and understand how it can impact the economic well-being of a city. Your wide-ranging skills in strategy planning, business development, relationship management, leadership, communication, human resources, and finance equip you well for the challenges of running a dynamic organization. You also have experience working with a Board of Directors and bring a complete understanding of governance.
