Position Overview: The Planning & Development Supervisor acts as both an operational Development Planner and the strategic Supervisor responsible for leading and managing a dynamic team of front line staff who deliver exceptional development services to our community. As a Development Planner, you will find that Canmore provides a planning landscape like no other, with challenges that are legislative, geographical, natural, human, and animal. You will play a critical role in community engagement and communication on significant Planning issues and projects, and in the end you’ll be proud to be a leader in your industry. You will need to be comfortable engaging others in decision-making, and making decisions with overall organizational priorities and strategies in mind. You must create a rewarding and motivating work environment for your team, and ensure that all team members are involved and engaged in the Town’s workplace culture of personal and professional development. To be successful in this role, you will need to have experience leading a professional team, a post-secondary degree in Urban, regional or municipal Planning and 3 to 5 years’ experience in; statutory planning, preparation and review, subdivision and development permitting, and development agreement processing. Membership in the Association of Professional Community Planners or the Canadian Institute of Planners will be considered a strong asset!
