The City of Cold Lake is seeking a qualified individual to fill the permanent, full-time position of Parks and Recreation Foreman with the Community Services Department.

Reporting to the Recreation Manager, the Parks and Recreation Foreman is responsible for overseeing all landscaping and proper maintenance of City recreational assets, including arenas, public green spaces, sports fields, and parks. The Parks and Recreation Foreman is also responsible for the daily direction of the Parks and Recreation Department and sets daily activities, priorities, and objectives for staff. Work is performed both in and outdoors, exposing the Foreman to inclement weather, various chemicals, hand and power tools, motorized vehicles, and heavy equipment. This position is required to handle urgent and emergency situations in an efficient, professional manner, always ensuring that City policies and safety standards are met.

The preferred qualifications for this position include Playground Inspector Level II, Arena Operator Level II, and Parks and Sports Field Operator certifications. The Parks and Recreation Foreman will have strong computer, time management, communication, organizational, and customer service skills. A Class 3 driver’s license with Q endorsement and Standard First Aid with CPR are required. Applicants must have the ability to supervise, working independently as well as within a team environment, while maintaining a high level of accuracy and confidentiality. A minimum 5-8 years’ experience in Parks and Recreation or a related field is required, with preference given to applicants with experience in a Municipal or other Government setting.
