Fraser Riverkeeper is a member of the international Waterkeeper Alliance founded by Robert Kennedy Jr, and our encompassing mission is to help ensure the right of all citizens to safely swim, drink, and fish in BC waters.
The Outreach Coordinator will oversee and assist Fraser Riverkeeper in implementing, updating and promoting Swim Guide. Swim Guide is a free smartphone app that gives citizens daily and weekly updates on beach locations, closures, swim advisories, pollution and water-quality issues at over 400 beaches in BC. The Outreach Coordinator will also help implement and plan the Swim Guide outreach campaign via social media, attendance at community outreach events, posters and radio PSAs.
The Outreach Coordinator will be trained in Swim Guide data entry, and work with regional health authorities to get accurate data into the back end of the app. The OC will then train volunteers to assist with the data entry.
The Outreach Coordinator will also be in charge of recruiting and managing volunteers for Fraser Riverkeeper’s Youth Shore Patrol team. Throughout the summer the team will assist in weekly shoreline cleanups, engage with community members on water related issues and promote Swim Guide. The Outreach Coordinator will attend all Shore Patrol meetings to support the team members and encourage active participation in protecting our shorelines.
This is a great opportunity for meaningful work with an internationally recognized charity network, which will provide you with experience in management, program development, social media promotion, smartphone app technology, and community outreach.
