The Seaboard Transport Group is currently searching for an Operations Supervisor for our Coal Haulage Operation located in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
Core Job Functions:
Schedule and communicate with drivers each week on the coal haul based on units assigned
Daily collection and management of required weigh slips including distribution of information to internal and external customers
Daily checks of external scale house
Ensuring scale programming, driver, and equipment data accurately entered into in-house database
Scale maintenance involves the following:
Deck is regularly cleaned from any buildup of coal.
Rubber inserts at both ends of scale are in place
Material build up around load cells is kept clean.
Daily checks to ensure supplies are stocked ( ex. pens, rags, weigh slips etc)
Close communication with external customers and site supervisors to ensure all operational activity is going as intended
Ensure proper parking plan is in-place for yard
Plan daily inspection of driver routes (including delivery and drop-off site)
Review any unproductive time that drivers submit and pay according to our guidelines for U/P pay.
Send all summary documents to corporate office for invoice and payroll process.
Ensure compliance with all Health and Safety, Human Resources and Maintenance policies (including but not limited to: Driver Scorecard, Uniform Compliance, Driver Appreciation Events, Wheel Re-Torque Policy, Preventative Maintenance, Hours of Service Policy, etc.)
Other duties as required
Job Requirements:
Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent work experience
Previous operations management experience in the transportation industry
Previous experience managing a team
Advanced capabilities with MS Office, including: MS Office, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
Strong communication skills – verbal and written
High-level of self-motivation
High-level of attention to detail
