The Role
We are seeking an experienced, self-directed, and collaborative person to lead the day-to-day administrative, financial management and human resources functions of the Institute, and contribute to a positive, high-performing organizational culture. The Operations Manager will be responsible for implementing human resources policies and practices that are grounded in justice, equity and inclusion, leading financial planning and reporting, and managing administrative and IT support for the Institute’s staff, contractors and Board.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in business management, administration or related field. A financial accounting qualification would be desirable.
Minimum 7 years of experience in a similar or related capacity.
Experience with budget planning, audits and donor reporting. Experience with QuickBooks Online, or a similar accounting package, is highly desirable.
Experience developing and implementing human resources policies and practices
Proficiency with current office automation best practices and collaboration tools such as GSuite, Slack, Zoom
Strong problem solving, coaching and mentoring, and critical thinking capabilities
Detail oriented, with excellent communication skills
Knowledge of Indigenous rights, reconciliation and Indigenous ways of knowing is desirable.
Ability to establish trusted relationships with staff, Board members, and external stakeholders including vendors, partners, and key government contacts.
English/French fluency preferred.
Additional Details
This is a full-time position with a salary range of $75,000 – $90,000. Staff members are eligible for group health benefits after a three-month waiting period.

Work is done in a virtual environment with Institute staff located across the country. The selected candidate would work from home and must be based in Canada.
We offer flexible, self-directed work schedules; occasional evening and/or weekend work may be necessary. This position requires infrequent travel (post-COVID).
The anticipated start date for this role is early March 2021.
