Operations Manager – Capital Region Board – Edmonton, AB

Salary: Based on experience and qualifications

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Operations Manager works to ensure that CRB operations are working effectively and cohesively to achieve the Board’s business and strategic objectives. The Operations Manager will ensure coherence across the organization through stakeholder engagement to develop consensus and execution of the plan. Effective planning and communication are the keys to ensuring that progress and success related to objectives are achieved.

Responsibilities:

Contribute to the strategic and tactical direction of the CRB
Keep the Senior Leadership and project teams apprised of any Operations initiatives which are likely to impact other functional areas or the Boards overall operations or direction
Attend Board meetings, as required
Coordinate the execution of ongoing operations of the Board
Provide the operational planning function for the CRB
Issue management and coordination of issue resolution
Assist the CEO in achieving the Board’s strategic and business plan objectives, including development of tools to track and manage progress in achieving objectives
Assist CRB administration in the development of performance measurement tools, including metrics and Key Performance Indicators(KPIs)
In conjunction with the appropriate project manager, plan and lead process reviews according to the business and strategic plans
Assist project managers (PMs) by leading, planning and coordinating specific events and activities as identified by the PMs
Assist the CEO in planning and executing a Board governance review
Assist in strategic planning and transition of strategic plan to business plan and budget

Other:

Attend functions and represent the CRB, as needed
Other duties as assigned

Strategic planning:

Assists the CEO/the leadership team in developing the business plan for the CRB
Establishes management processes and specific performance measures that clearly support the business/strategic plan
Sets priorities and goals, creates implementation plans and evaluates the process and results
Assesses performance and makes timely changes in strategy, structure and resource allocations

Financial results:

appropriate financial objectives and sets annual goals consistent with the business/strategic plan
Maintains efficient utilization of financial resources within established policies of the CRB
Demonstrates diligence in making appropriate financial decisions

Qualifications:

Post-secondary education in a related field with 7-10 years of experience in operations and strategic planning in a mid-management or executive level position
Experience with conducting research and project management is considered an asset
Prior experience in a regulated industry, working as a regulator or in a government agency would be considered an asset Experience with conducting research and project management is considered an asset
