About the Opportunity
The FNFC has recently worked with the federal government departments and agencies, including Transport Canada, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Environment and Climate Change Canada, and the Canadian Coast Guard to develop a joint Commitment to Action Accord related to implementing the Oceans Protection Plan (OPP). This agreement highlights a collaborative working relationship to advance the successful protection of the Pacific Ocean in British Columbia and support the intention of the federal government to support related First Nations interests.
The OPP Coordinator functions to ensure strong relationships are maintained between FNFC, BC First Nations, and the Canadian federal government. Through supporting the implementation of FNFC’s Oceans Protection Plan initiatives, the OPP Coordinator will have the opportunity to gain experience and skills in the areas of program administration, project execution, and building collaborative working relationships. The OPP Coordinator will support FNFC OPP committees, liaise with First Nations organizations, government agencies, and other FNFC partners to advance and support oceans protection related interests of BC First Nations. In addition, this role presents a unique opportunity to demonstrate leadership and the ability to support organizational growth through supporting the development of broader FNFC funding opportunities related to OPP initiatives (including grants and proposals), communication materials, and report/briefing research, analysis, and writing.
